Nick & Maggie
July 19, 2025 | The Highline Rochester
Some wedding days feel like stepping into someone’s world, not just attending an event. Maggie and Nick’s day had that magnetism, that color, that spark. From the second I arrived at The Highline, I could tell: this was going to be one of those days that sticks with you. Think retro charm meets modern joy, bold color choices, unique fonts carried throughout their stationery and signage, and personal touches that felt unmistakably them. And yes, Maggie’s reception veil covered in sequins? Show stopping. It shimmered under the lights all night, catching sparkles every time she moved. Absolute chef’s kiss.
Both Maggie and Nick got ready just a couple minutes away at the Courtyard Marriott on East Ave, separate rooms, buzzing excitement, everyone telling stories and hyping them up.
Before the ceremony even began, the most heartfelt moments unfolded. A heartfelt first look shared between her dad and brother that brought tears to everyone’s eyes, creating a truly unforgettable moment.
Then, a quiet, intimate first look with Nick where time seemed to gently pause, allowing them to fully embrace the moment. And then, the most touching exchange of personal vows, whispered solely between the two of them, filled with the kind of sincere words that remind you why love is such a magical and powerful force. Yes, crying absolutely happened. Everyone embraced it and it was beautiful.
Their ceremony took place inside The Highline, officiated by one of their closest friends, which made it feel intimate and natural, like a story being told in real time by someone who has watched their love grow from the beginning. Surrounded by their favorite people, warmth, laughter, and a bit of joyful tear dabbing filled the room.
Family formals were done right after, and the love there was unmistakable. And just a note because it matters: the care everyone showed each other during portraits was deeply felt. Maggie’s brother shined and there was intentionality and respect for the needs of everyone present.
Cocktail hour spilled both indoors and outdoors, energy high, music flowing, guests floating around laughing and reconnecting, and the outdoor bar keeping things lively.
We wandered The Highline grounds and a few tucked away corners nearby for portraits, turning ordinary spaces into stunning backdrops.
Introductions kicked off with the best song choice: “I’m a Believer” (Shrek version) — immaculate vibes.
Their first dance to “You’re My Best Friend” by Queen felt straight out of a movie, sweet, playful, and full of that best-friend-married-my-best-friend joy.
Parent dances were emotional and deeply personal moments that beautifully highlighted the special bonds between parents and their children on this important day. Nick shared a heartfelt dance with his mom to the touching song "Little Wonders" by Rob Thomas, while Maggie enjoyed a tender dance with her dad to the timeless and loving tune "Father and Daughter" by Paul Simon.
Speeches from Brandon, Frankie, and Liz brought the entire room from laughter to tears and back again, all glowing under golden hour light pouring through The Highline windows.
Dinner was warm and relaxed, and soon the dance floor erupted. And when I say erupted, I mean full out joy, siblings and friends taking turns owning the dance floor, everyone singing along, doors open and people drifting between inside and out as the summer night settled in. It was electric.
Instead of a traditional cake cutting, Maggie and Nick went with the cutest and trendiest twist, a cupcake cutting. A whole display of brightly frosted cupcakes (that looked almost too pretty to eat) was arranged for guests, and the two of them chose one to “cut” and share. It felt so them, playful, a little nostalgic, and way more fun than trying to slice a perfect piece of cake. Everyone cheered, laughed, and then immediately grabbed their own cupcake to join in. It was sweet, simple, and honestly… incredibly charming. A new favorite wedding moment? Absolutely.
Maggie and Nick, Your day was pure joy from start to finish. It wasn’t just beautiful to witness, but deeply heartfelt and filled with a genuine kind of love that moved everyone around you in a truly special way.
