Nick & Jo

November 8, 2025 | The Sinclair of Skaneateles, Skaneateles, New York

My beautiful cousin Jo has been woven into my life for as long as I can remember. We grew up side by side in the kind of childhood that lives in small details: sleepovers that lasted three days instead of one, living room dance performances, and hours spent on the floor playing Barbies with fully developed plot lines. And of course… memorizing every single word (and choreography) from From Justin to Kelly. We didn’t just watch it, we performed it. Repeatedly. With complete seriousness.

Jo has always been expressive like that. She feels things fully. She commits fully. Whether it was dance, school, friendships — & eventually, Nick.

Morning at The Sinclair

Jo spent her morning inside The Sinclair of Skaneateles, surrounded by the women who know her best. The morning felt less like a production and more like a family gathering that happened to include a wedding dress hanging nearby. There was laughter, helping hands, and the kind of calm that only happens when a bride feels completely safe in the day ahead.

Nick’s morning at Skaneateles Fields Resort & Spa carried a quiet weight to it, especially when his dad surprised him with a family heirloom watch. It wasn’t just a gift; it was history placed into his hands. A piece worn before him, now entrusted to him on the day he stepped into marriage. The moment was understated but powerful: pride, legacy, and generations woven into something he would carry on his wrist as he promised forever. His brother AJ helped with the finishing touches and slowly the day started to feel all too real.

When Jo stepped out in her dress, the room changed instantly, not loud, not chaotic, just this collective pause as her nieces and girls took her in. They circled her the way only family does, equal parts awe and protectiveness, whispering and fixing little details that didn’t need fixing just to stay close a moment longer.

But the moment her dad turned and saw her, everything broke open. His reaction was immediate and wholehearted. It wasn’t just seeing her as a bride, it was seeing every version of her at once, and he felt all of it.

A Ceremony Years in the Making

The ceremony took place at St. Alphonsus Church in Auburn. Nick and Jo have been together for so long that their marriage didn’t feel like a beginning, it felt like a confirmation. Everyone already knew. This was just the moment they said it out loud.

After the ceremony, they walked out into a tunnel of bubbles floating down the church steps, laughter echoing off the stone as everyone crowded close to celebrate them. It felt carefree and almost childlike, the kind of joy you don’t plan, you just step into together. Halfway down the walkway they paused for a kiss, completely wrapped up in the moment while the people who love them most cheered them into the start of married life.

Family met back inside the church for photographs following the excitement.

Portraits Back in Skaneateles

When we returned to Skaneateles we snuck in a few more memories with Tiffany, AJ, and the newlyweds and the energy was beyond joyful.

The two then stepped onto the balcony overlooking the property for one of the most anticipated photos of the day, and it felt cinematic without trying to be.

November gave us that early winter glow of crisp air, warm light, and a reason for Jo’s white fur shawl that she cozied into beside the outdoor fireplace. The two held espresso martinis, tucked into each other naturally, the way people do when they’ve spent years learning how the other person stands, laughs, and relaxes.

A Reception Built on Memories

Cocktail hour introduced one of the most meaningful details: a finger-painting station where every guest added their fingerprint to a canvas tree. By the end of the night, they left with a piece of art made entirely from the people who showed up for them.

Each table held photos from throughout their relationship, not curated perfection, but real history. Their seating display hid one of their favorite engagement photos beneath removable name cards. As the night went on, the image slowly revealed itself, a visual metaphor for how a relationship becomes visible through community.

Their first dance was choreographed and centered in the room, not flashy, but intentional, another quiet callback to the Jo who always loved movement and expression.

Their first dance led beautifully into the parent dances, the kind of moments that remind you a wedding is never just about two people. It’s about the ones who raised them, shaped them, prayed for them, and stood beside them long before this day. Watching Jo dance with her dad felt full circle, bringing us all the way back to our High School Father Daughter Dance. Seeing Nick with his mom carried the same weight of gratitude, history, pride. The room didn’t just watch, they felt it.

The speeches brought that same thread of family through the entire evening. Tiffany and AJ spoke not just as a matron of honor and best man, but as siblings who have had front-row seats to their love story. Both fathers shared words that held years of memory, and Nick’s mom spoke with the kind of warmth that only comes from knowing your child deeply. There was laughter, there were tears, and there was that unmistakable sense that these two aren’t just supported, they are surrounded.

The cake cutting felt sweet in the truest sense of the word, simple, joyful, and surrounded by the people who matter most. They stood close, hands overlapping on the knife, laughing before they even made the first slice. It wasn’t about the perfect photo or a dramatic smash, it was about sharing another first together while their families circled in, cameras up and smiles wide. And knowing Nick’s mom had poured her love into the cookies waiting nearby made it feel even more personal, dessert wasn’t just served, it was made by hand. Not a trend. Just family.

By the time the dance floor opened, Jo didn’t need an invitation, she’d been waiting for it all night. Dance has always been her language, and the second the music started she was everywhere at once: pulling people in, spinning with cousins, laughing with friends, never sitting for long. It stopped feeling like a reception and started feeling like a family party, the kind where no one checks the time because no one wants it to end.

At the very end of the night we stepped outside for the venue tradition, Jo and Nick fastening a lock onto the chain wall together, their date etched onto it among the others. A quiet moment after a loud celebration, marking that this day wasn’t just remembered in photos, but left behind in a place they can come back to.

Jo and Nick, thank you for trusting us with something so personal. Photographing your wedding wasn’t just documenting a day, it was witnessing the joining of two families who already loved each other well. It means more than I can put into words that you chose us to tell this story. We will carry it with the same care you carry each other.

We’re so excited to share a glimpse into their day through their wedding trailer, a first look at everything as it truly felt. There’s something different about seeing love in motion: the way Jo throws her head back when she laughs, the way Nick reaches for her without thinking, the way their families leaned in close all day long. Film captures the in-between moments you don’t even realize are happening.

Their Engagement Session

Before the wedding, we photographed their engagement session at the home they’re currently building together — drywall, open framing, future rooms marked only by imagination. It felt fitting. Because their relationship has never been about big announcements. It’s always been about building something steady, piece by piece.

If you're planning your own special day and want to ensure every moment is captured with the same care and attention to detail, feel free to reach out. I'd love to help you tell your unique love story through stunning photography.

Stay Beautiful,
